The title track of their sixth album is cynical and dark — not what you might expect from a band who built their reputation on untethered optimism. But the world weariness is captivating, and showed the band were prepared to be a little edgier in their approach. The result is mature yet catchy. Lyrically, it urges everyone to see beyond the tough times, and to believe in basic principles. Given that Bon Jovi had just gone through a bad period on a personal level, this is effectively autobiographical. From the New Jersey album, this is another collaboration with Desmond Child. Its drips dynamic, propulsive tunefulness, and the monologue at the fade out is both hilarious and also a thinly veiled warning.
Bon Jovi have consistently been one of the most successful record-selling and arena-filling rock acts of their generation. Starting with their roots in the glam and pop metal scene of the early-'80s, the band have kept on cranking out hits and selling out shows long after most bands of that genre have long since faded, due in part to the strength and diversity of their songwriting. And the fact that Jon Bon Jovi is one of rock's savviest self-marketers — with a great voice and a way with a song hook — hasn't hurt the group, either. One of the main things that separated Bon Jovi from other '80s pop-metal bands were their working class anthems.

The standard edition of the album includes fourteen of the bands hits and two brand new singles "What Do You Got? The new songs were written specifically for this new compilation project. The font used for the band's name on the album's cover is a return to the Bon Jovi logo used from to and it is also the first ever album to use the heart and dagger logo. Bon Jovi performed a special, live streaming concert for the Live on Letterman web series on November 9, The band performed a significant part of the album during the hour-long set. The full track listing of the American and Canadian versions of compilation albums was unveiled on the official Bon Jovi website, which also offered the exclusive MP3 download of the new song " This Is Our House ". While the standard edition released in North America will have 28 tracks, the Australian and Japanese editions are set to have 30 and 31 tracks respectively.
